This guide explains step by step how to use MyStockWatcher: where to start, what to click, how you see that it worked and how to undo it. Looking for the meaning of an indicator such as RSI or P/E, or of ETF, crypto and CFD? See the glossary. Everything is descriptive; there is no investment advice.
Quick start in 6 steps
-
Add a ticker~1 minOn the Dashboard, click "+ Add ticker" above your ticker list, type at least 2 characters (e.g. Apple, ASML, BTC-USD) and click + next to the right result. You immediately see price and daily change. Adding a ticker only means following it (watchlist), not owning it.
-
Optionally add your first transaction~1 minDo you actually own the stock? In the portfolio tile click "+ Add your first transaction" (or the pencil next to the ticker), choose Buy, enter date, quantity and price and click "+ Add transaction". Only then does MyStockWatcher calculate value and profit/loss. You can skip this.
-
Set a price alert~1 minClick the bell next to a ticker, choose Rises above or Falls below, enter a target price and click "Create alert". You get a notice and an email (with a confirmed address) as soon as the limit is reached, even when MyStockWatcher is not open.
-
Generate your first report~2 minOn the dashboard go to the Generate report block and click the Generate report button. You see "Generating report..."; after a few minutes "Report ready!" appears with an Open button. You also find it under Recent reports and on the Reports page.
-
Read your report~3 minEach ticker has a card with tabs (Chart, Key figures, Peers, News, Events, Analysts, AI Analysis; which you see depends on the ticker). Click "What does this mean?" under the card for an explanation. Keep the report with Save as PDF at the top.
-
Let reports arrive automatically~1 minIn the box Automatic reports (recurring) switch on the daily report (and optionally the weekly deep dive) and choose a time; it is saved at once. Nothing is sent until you switch this on.
Done? The sections below explain every action in detail, with what you see afterwards and how to undo it.
Dashboard
Viewing and filtering your tickers
dashboard
Where Dashboard (the page after logging in), block My tickers.
Steps
- Pick a tab above the list: All, Portfolio (tickers you hold a position in) or Watchlist (tickers without a position). The count is shown in brackets.
- Type in "Filter by symbol or name..." to narrow the list; clear the field to see everything again.
- Click a category title (Stocks, ETF, Crypto, Commodities, Currencies) to collapse or expand it. While filtering, all groups are expanded.
Result The list shows only what matches the tab and filter; the tiles at the top (portfolio value, daily change, profit/loss, dividend received) keep showing your whole portfolio.
Undo Choose All again and clear the filter. Collapsing categories is not saved: after a reload all groups are open again.
If something goes wrong
- The list is empty: Check whether you are on Portfolio while you have no transactions yet: choose All or add a transaction.
- A ticker is missing: It may be hidden: open Hidden tickers above the list and restore it.
Understanding prices and update time
dashboard
Where Next to each ticker and in the notice above the list.
Steps
- Keep the dashboard open: prices refresh every 60 seconds while the tab is visible.
- Read the update time and source (Yahoo Finance; Binance for crypto) in the notice next to the prices.
Result You see price and daily change. Prices come from Yahoo Finance (crypto from Binance, quoted in USDT and shown as USD) and can be delayed; they are not real-time trading prices.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
If something goes wrong
- A price stays empty or old: Reload the page; some tickers (especially small or foreign ones) do not always return a price. That is a limitation of the data source.
- It says "Latest price from [date]": The source was a trading day behind for that instrument. Such an instrument is left out of the biggest gainers/losers.
- The report says the prices are from the latest session: At weekends or on a holiday, prices and daily changes belong to the latest trading session. Crypto trades around the clock and does not count for this.
- A price is marked "outdated" when it is busy: If Yahoo temporarily refuses too many requests, MyStockWatcher uses the last known price (at most 24 hours old) and marks it. The AI analysis on such a price is not kept for the whole day.
- For a cryptocurrency, "Binance (USDT)" is shown as the exchange: prices and charts then come from Binance's public market data instead of Yahoo Finance. A USDT is roughly one dollar, so the price usually differs by less than 0.2% from Yahoo. The volume is that of Binance itself and therefore lower than the combined market volume Yahoo shows.
Managing tickers
Adding a ticker
tickers
Where Button "+ Add ticker" above your ticker list.
Steps
- Click "+ Add ticker". Optionally pick a category tab (All, Stocks, ETF, Crypto, Commodities, Currencies) or browse the suggested list.
- Type at least 2 characters (name or symbol, e.g. Apple, ASML, KBC.BR, BTC-USD) in the search field; results come from Yahoo Finance.
- Click + next to the right result.
Result The ticker appears at once in the right category and shows price and daily change. It counts as a watchlist item until you add a transaction.
Undo Hide it with the × icon (see "Hiding and restoring a ticker").
If something goes wrong
- No results: Try another search word or the exact symbol with exchange suffix (e.g. .AS for Amsterdam, .BR for Brussels, .DE for Frankfurt).
- Several results: Look at the exchange/currency in the name and pick the listing you follow; the same company can trade on several exchanges.
- Button is grey ("Limit reached"): Your plan allows a maximum number of tickers (Free 3, Pro 25, Premium 100). Hide a ticker or upgrade your plan.
Hiding and restoring a ticker
tickers
Where Icon × next to the ticker (on a narrow screen via ⋯ More actions → Hide) and button Hidden tickers above the list.
Steps
- Click × next to the ticker to hide it.
- Want it back? Click Hidden tickers and then Restore next to the ticker.
Result A hidden ticker disappears from your list, but transactions and alerts are kept. There is no button to erase a ticker for good: hiding is the only, reversible step.
Undo Restore it via Hidden tickers; your transaction history is still there.
If something goes wrong
- My position seems gone: It is not deleted but hidden: restore the ticker.
Changing the order of tickers
tickers
Where The ☰ handle to the left of each ticker.
Steps
- Desktop: drag the handle up or down within the same category.
- Keyboard: select the handle and use the arrow keys (up/left = earlier, down/right = later).
Result Order saved ✓ appears briefly; the new order is also kept after a reload.
Undo Move the ticker again.
If something goes wrong
- "Saving the order failed — reload the page": Reload the page and try again; check that you are still logged in.
Transactions & position
Entering a buy, sell or dividend
transactions
Where Icon ✎ (Transactions) next to a ticker, or in the portfolio tile the button "+ Add your first transaction".
Steps
- Choose the type: Buy, Sell or Dividend.
- Buy/Sell: enter Date, Quantity and Price per share (in the ticker's currency).
- Dividend: enter Date, Gross amount and Dividend tax.
- Optionally enter Broker and click "+ Add transaction".
Result The transaction appears in the list; summary, position and profit/loss update at once. A ticker with a position moves from Watchlist to Portfolio.
Undo See "Changing or deleting a transaction".
If something goes wrong
- "Choose a date" / "Enter price and quantity" / "Enter the gross amount": A required field is missing; fill it in and confirm again.
- "Error saving": Check your input (amounts and quantities must be numbers) and try again.
Changing or deleting a transaction
transactions
Where The Transactions window of the ticker (icon ✎), under the list of transactions.
Steps
- Click the pencil next to the transaction (Edit); the form fills in.
- Change the fields and click "Save changes", or "Cancel change" to stop.
- To erase the transaction click the cross (×, tooltip Delete).
Result Position, average cost and profit/loss are recalculated.
Undo A deleted transaction does not come back: enter it again. For a wrongly entered sale: delete it and enter the correct one.
If something goes wrong
- Realised profit looks wrong after a correction: Check the order and dates of your buy and sell transactions; the calculation follows the weighted average.
Average cost and partial sales
transactions
Where Summary at the top of the Transactions window (Count, Avg. cost, Realised P&L, Dividend net).
Steps
- Every buy adjusts the weighted average cost: (current quantity × current average + new quantity × price) / total quantity.
- Every sale (also part of your position) books profit or loss on the sold shares against that average; the average itself stays the same.
Result After a partial sale the number of shares drops, the average cost stays the same and the result goes to Realised P&L.
Undo Change or delete the transaction and let everything recalculate.
If something goes wrong
- I sold more than I owned: Check quantities and dates of your transactions and correct or delete the wrong sale.
Reading positions & returns
Where are profit, loss and dividend?
returns
Where The tiles at the top of the dashboard and the Transactions window per ticker.
Steps
- Portfolio value and Day change: current value of your open positions (in EUR) and today's move.
- Profit/loss (open positions): unrealised result against your average cost.
- Dividend received (net): sum of your entered dividends after tax.
- Realised P&L per ticker is in the Transactions window.
Result Total return = unrealised + realised + net dividend. vs MSCI World shows the difference in percentage points with the same investment in that index; Annual return (XIRR) takes into account when money went in or out.
Undo Not applicable (read-only); figures change when you edit your transactions.
If something goes wrong
- Warning "Incomplete": A price or exchange rate was missing for at least one position; totals are then an underestimate. Try again later.
- Everything shows a dash: You have no transactions yet: add one and the tiles fill in.
Price alerts & warnings
Setting a price alert
alerts
Where The bell 🔔 next to a ticker, or at the bottom of the dashboard in the Price alerts section the button "+ Set alert".
Steps
- Choose the ticker (already filled in if you came via the bell).
- Choose Rises above (alert when the price goes above your target) or Falls below (alert when it drops below).
- Enter the target price, or use the Quick select buttons under the field.
- Optionally enter an Expiry date and a Comment and click "Create alert".
Result The alert appears under Active alerts with the current price next to it. It is checked on the server, even when your dashboard is closed (about every 15 minutes, faster while the dashboard is open). When it triggers you get a notice on the dashboard and an email (only with a confirmed email address).
Undo See "Editing or deleting an alert".
If something goes wrong
- I got no email: Check your spam and whether your email address is confirmed (the link in the registration email is valid for 24 hours). The dashboard notice does appear.
- "Price unavailable": No price is available for this ticker right now; try again later or enter a target price yourself.
- "Fill in all fields": Choose condition and target price before you confirm.
Editing or deleting an alert
alerts
Where Price alerts section at the bottom of the dashboard, next to each alert.
Steps
- Click the pencil (Edit / add comment), change target price, condition, expiry date or comment and click "Save changes".
- Click the Delete icon to erase the alert.
Result An alert that triggered now sits under Triggered alerts (button "Show triggered alerts") and does not trigger again. An alert past its expiry date shows Expired and is no longer checked.
Undo Re-enable a triggered alert by changing its target. Create a deleted alert again.
If something goes wrong
- My alert triggered while I was not looking: That is intended: the check runs on the server. Under Triggered alerts see when and at which price it triggered.
Switching a support/resistance warning on and off
alerts
Where The icon 📐 next to a ticker (on a narrow screen via ⋯ More actions).
Steps
- Click 📐: the icon turns active.
- Click it again to switch the warning off.
Result As soon as the price breaks the short-term support level (lowest recent close) or resistance level (highest), you get an email. These are historical reference levels, not a price forecast.
Undo Switch the icon off.
If something goes wrong
- I never get a notice: A breakout is rare; check that the icon is active and your email address is confirmed.
Dividend calendar
Reading the dividend calendar
dividend
Where The Dividend Calendar block on the dashboard, below your tickers.
Steps
- Choose the filter Upcoming, Historical or All.
- Per ticker read the date, the Ex-dividend and payment date, the dividend yield and (with a position) the estimated gross per year.
- Open Estimated upcoming dates under a card to see extra estimated dates.
Result A badge says how certain the date is: Confirmed (announced by the company), Estimated (calculated from the payment pattern of earlier years, not yet announced) or Last known (most recent known date). Estimated dates are an arithmetic estimate, not a commitment. Source: Yahoo Finance. A card also shows how often it pays out (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual), derived from the latest payments. Accumulating ETFs do not pay out: their dividends are reinvested.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
If something goes wrong
- No dividends shown: No upcoming dividend was found for your tickers, or your filter is on Upcoming: choose All.
- "Could not load dividend calendar": Reload the page; the source may be temporarily unavailable.
- The estimated amount varies: If a company alternately pays an interim and a final dividend, the estimate follows that pattern, but only with at least two full cycles and amounts within 5% of each other. Otherwise the last amount applies. It remains an estimate.
Technical analysis & chat
Opening a technical position analysis and asking questions
analysis
Where The icon 💡 (Technical position analysis) next to a ticker.
Steps
- Click 💡; the analysis appears after a few seconds ("AI is thinking about your position...").
- Ask a follow-up question at the bottom in "Ask a question about this position..." and confirm.
- See earlier analyses and transactions on a timeline via 📜 History.
Result You get an informational analysis based on recent closing prices and, if present, your position. It is not investment advice. Answers and earlier analyses stay in the history.
Undo Not applicable; close the window.
If something goes wrong
- No answer or error message: Try again; the AI service may be unreachable for a moment.
- I have no position: The analysis is then more general because your cost price is missing; add a transaction for a position-based analysis.
Questions about your whole portfolio
analysis
Where The block "Ask about your portfolio" on the dashboard (visible once you have at least one position).
Steps
- Click an example question or type your own (e.g. "Where is my biggest concentration risk?").
- Click Ask and wait for the answer.
Result You get a summarising, informational answer about spread, return and risk of your portfolio; the conversation is kept.
Undo Not applicable.
If something goes wrong
- The block is missing: You have no position yet: add a buy transaction.
- "Network error, try again": Check your connection and ask the question again.
Reports
Generating a regular report
reports
Where The Generate report block on the dashboard.
Steps
- Make sure you have at least one ticker (otherwise: "Add tickers first").
- Optionally tick "Also by email" to email the report too.
- Click Generate report. You see "Generating report... this can take a few minutes.".
- Wait for "Report ready!" and click Open.
- Below the button you see per phase how far the report is (prices and indicators n/m, news and AI analysis, building the report) with the elapsed time. If you reload the page, the progress resumes.
Result The report is in Recent reports and on the Reports page, in your account language, with all your active tickers.
Undo Move the report to the trash (see "Managing reports").
If something goes wrong
- The report does not appear: Leave it a few minutes and reload; if it is still not there, try again. There is a limit of 3 reports per hour.
- A tab (e.g. News) is empty: The source returned nothing; the tab shows source and date. That is not an error.
- It says "A new version is available": Refresh the page before continuing; an old tab can make actions fail.
Generating a deep dive
reports
Where In the Generate report block, line "Deep-dive for".
Steps
- Pick a ticker in the list, or leave "Most notable ticker (automatic)" (the ticker with the biggest 5-day move relative to its usual fluctuation).
- Optionally tick "Also by email" to email the deep dive as well.
- Check on the right how many deep dives you have left ("x of y deep-dives left today").
- Click "Generate deep-dive now" and wait until it is done.
Result An extended, linear report for one ticker (at a glance, what has changed, price history, risk, technical levels, company, third-party analysts, news and calendar; see "Reading a deep dive"). The daily quota depends on your plan: Free 1, Pro 3, Premium 10. Nothing is emailed unless you tick Also by email.
Undo Trash (see "Managing reports"). A used deep dive still counts toward that day's quota.
If something goes wrong
- The button is grey: Your daily quota is used up; try again tomorrow or upgrade your plan.
- No automatic ticker possible: Add tickers first.
Setting up, changing and switching off automatic reports
reports
Where The box "Automatic reports (recurring)" in the Generate report block.
Steps
- Daily report: tick "Daily automatic report by email" and choose a time.
- Weekly deep dive: tick "Weekly deep-dive by email (Monday)"; it arrives every Monday around the same time. Under "Choose ticker" pick how the ticker is chosen (see "Which ticker does the weekly deep dive choose?").
- Weekly overview: tick "Weekly overview by email (Monday)" for a short email with the biggest weekly moves and what is coming up.
- Change the time in the time field; every change is saved at once (Saved).
- Untick a box to stop that task.
Result Below the box it says "Next run: ... at ... (time zone)"; if nothing is on it says "Not active — nothing will be sent.". Automatic reports go to your account email address and require a confirmed address.
Undo Untick the task; nothing is scheduled any more.
If something goes wrong
- I get nothing: Check that your email address is confirmed, look in your spam and see that the task is really on.
- Time looks wrong: The time applies in your account's time zone, shown next to the next run.
Reading and saving a report
reports
Where Reports page → View, or Open in the notice.
Steps
- A regular report has a card with tabs per ticker (a deep dive is a separate, linear report: see "Reading a deep dive"): Chart, Key figures, Peers (only for stocks with comparable tickers), News, Events, Analysts (stocks only) and AI Analysis. In a deep dive the analysis tab is called Deep Dive and is open; above it is a Key points box (summary, trend per horizon, RSI and risk, nearest support/resistance) with buttons that jump to the tabs.
- Hover over icons and headings for a tooltip; click "What does this mean?" under the card for an explanation of trend, RSI, MACD, risk and signal.
- Click Save as PDF at the top and choose Save as PDF in the print window.
- On a phone: scroll the report sections bar at the top horizontally; it stays in place while you scroll.
- You can print or save as PDF in two ways: Full PDF includes all parts of every ticker, Compact PDF includes the overview and, per ticker, only the header, the price chart and the AI analysis (much shorter, on a portrait A4; the full PDF is landscape because of the wide tables). The file name ends with compact or full. On paper the report is white with dark text, and every part names the ticker and the date, even on a loose page.
Result You see per ticker what happened; everything is descriptive and not investment advice. A tab without data shows source and date.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
If something goes wrong
- A tab is missing: It only exists where the data exists (e.g. Analysts only for stocks, Peers only if there are comparable tickers).
Managing reports: filtering, renaming, trash
reports
Where Reports page (top bar).
Steps
- Filtering: choose a Report date and/or type a Ticker; chips show the filters and Clear filters resets them.
- Renaming: click the pencil next to the title, type a name (max. 120 characters, unique among your reports) and press Enter; an empty name restores the default name.
- Deleting in two steps: the bin moves the report to the trash; open Trash (n) to Restore it or Delete permanently.
Result Each report shows type, language, version and whether it is manual or scheduled. Only Delete permanently erases row and file for good; the trash is recoverable.
Undo Restore a report from the trash with Restore. Permanent deletion cannot be undone.
If something goes wrong
- "You already have a report with this name": Choose another name.
- The report file was not found: The file was deleted or not created; generate again.
Deep dive
Reading a deep dive
reports
Where Open a deep dive from Recent reports or the Reports page (type Deep dive).
Steps
- At the top you see the ticker (with logo), the price and why this ticker was chosen, plus a single disclaimer. Click "Explanation of the terms" for a short explanation of P/E, ATR, beta and the other terms.
- Read At a glance: five factual sentences (move, direction per period, comparison with the index, distance to the 52-week range, volatility and largest decline).
- Check What has changed?: the difference with the previous deep dive of the same ticker, with date, time and report number. At the first deep dive of a ticker it explains that instead.
- Then go through Price history (1-year chart with MA50, MA200 and the 52-week range, trend duration and trend break per average, return next to the index and per calendar year; for crypto the price series comes from Binance), Risk and volatility, Technical levels, Company (key figures, quarterly results, dividend per year), Comparable investments (see below), Your position and worked examples (see below), Analysts (third parties), News and Calendar.
- Every section shows its source and date. If a part has no data it says "No data available" or gives a short reason.
- At the top is a header card with key figures. The colour for volatility, risk score, net debt and interest coverage follows fixed rules of thumb (green, yellow, red; the thresholds are shown under the card behind "How do I read these colours?") and is a classification, not a judgement and not investment advice. If it says n/a, source data is missing and we show no colour.
Result A linear report without tabs. All figures are calculated with fixed rules from prices and public data; the direction per period is rising or falling for a change of more than 3% in that period plus a higher or lower average in its second half, otherwise sideways. Only the news summary was written by an AI and is labelled as such; analyst opinions come from third parties. There is never a price target or advice.
Undo Not applicable (read only). Move a deep dive you no longer want to the recycle bin (see "Managing reports").
If something goes wrong
- The Analysts section is missing or short: The block only appears with at least 3 analysts; with fewer you get a short note. Smaller European stocks often have little coverage.
- News says "Background (older news)": The newest item is older than 30 days. No AI summary is made then; the headlines are shown as background with their age.
- No comparison with an index: There is no suitable standard index for crypto, commodities and currencies; the page explains that. For a stock on a smaller exchange the index is a general reference and therefore indicative.
- The number of analysts does not match the rating split: The number behind the score and the sum of the split come from different Yahoo fields. A note explains this; both are third-party data.
- The 52-week high or low differs from the chart: If the source is not marked, these are the highest and lowest intraday prices, not the closing prices in the chart.
- A quarter is marked "(added)": Yahoo Finance does not provide that quarter. The figures then come from the company's official press release (or, for US companies, from SEC EDGAR); the source and a link are shown under the table.
- Net debt seems to differ from my own calculation: net debt is debt minus cash and short-term investments at quarter end; the amounts in the balance table therefore add up.
- Under Contradictions it says that quarterly figures from Yahoo are implausible, or that Yahoo differs from the SEC: the data quality check tests the figures for impossibilities (for example net income above revenue) and, for US companies, compares the latest quarters with the official SEC data. The figures concerned are shown; do not use them without checking.
Reading the trend duration and trend breaks
reports
Where In the daily report on every ticker card (block Trend duration) and in a deep-dive under Price history.
Steps
- For each average (50 and 200 price periods) read the status: Rising if the price is above the average and the average itself is rising, Falling in the opposite case, otherwise Mixed.
- Read since when the price has been on that side, how many trading days that is (calendar days for crypto), the return since then and the largest drawdown in between (price above the average) or rebound (below). "Since at least" means the price series starts there and the real start may be earlier.
- If you see a line about a trend break, it goes in three steps: possible (the price closed on the other side of the average), confirmed (two consecutive closes beyond a buffer of 0.5 ATR) and restored (two closes back on the original side). A break stays visible for about 20 price periods.
- At the bottom of the block you see the source of the price series (Yahoo Finance or, for crypto, Binance).
- Want an email as soon as a trend is confirmed to break? Turn on Trend-break email under Automatic reports on the dashboard. It is off by default. The email arrives when your report is ready and only lists new, confirmed breaks.
Result A calculated, descriptive indication from the price series; no AI is involved. The buffer of 0.5 times the ATR adapts to the instrument: a calm stock and a volatile crypto do not share one fixed limit. It is not a forecast and not investment advice.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
If it goes wrong
- The Technical trend indicator says something different from the Trend duration: That can happen. The badge uses RSI, MACD and the 5-day price change (momentum); the Trend duration uses the averages of 50 and 200 price periods. They answer two different questions.
- It says "Not enough price history": The 200-period average needs at least 200 plus a few dozen price periods; a recently listed fund or a young crypto does not have that.
- A break disappears after a while: A notice stays for about 20 price periods; after that the new side simply counts as the current trend.
Market context: interest rates, inflation and more
dashboard
Where Dashboard, block Market context.
Steps
- At the top are seven key figures as cards (Fed rate, ECB rate, US and euro-area inflation, VIX, EUR/USD and the dollar index) with the value, an arrow for the direction over one month and the reference date; click a card to jump to its row. The arrow only shows direction and does not say whether something is good or bad. Below are the groups (interest rates and bonds, inflation, growth and labour market, market stress, currencies, commodities), closed by default: click Expand all or a single group. Your browser remembers which groups you opened. Per indicator you see the current value, the change over 1 month and 1 year, the reference date and the source. On a narrow screen the reference date and source are behind the info icon.
- Under currencies you find the largest pairs with the dollar, EUR/GBP and the dollar index, with the quote direction in the name (for example "USD/JPY (Japanese yen per US dollar)"). Under commodities you find energy, precious metals, copper and grain as the price of a continuous future, with the unit in the name (USD per barrel, MMBtu, troy ounce, pound or bushel); see the glossary.
- Click Explanation at an indicator for what it measures. Under the name is one factual sentence, for example how much the rate changed in a month.
- Sources: Yahoo Finance (market prices), FRED (US statistics), the ECB Data Portal and Eurostat (euro area). Click the source to check the figure there.
- A warning Out of date means the latest observation is older than expected; Not available means a source did not answer for the moment or is not connected yet.
Result You place your portfolio in the context of interest rates, inflation, volatility and currencies. Macro figures appear monthly or quarterly and are revised; market prices may be delayed. They are facts, not a forecast and not advice.
Undo Close the block.
If something goes wrong
- A figure looks old: The reference date is the period the figure covers (for example a month), not the day it was published.
- US figures are not available: The FRED connection has not been set up by the administrator yet; the other sources work.
- The block shows "Loading..." or "Try again": The macro data is fetched from the sources, which can take a moment; the rest of the dashboard works normally. Click Try again if a source did not respond.
- Inflation says "Provisional (flash estimate)": The first eurozone figure is a quick estimate; it is replaced once the final figure is published. The publication date is shown.
- An older value is still shown: If there is no more recent observation, the block shows the latest available value with its reference date.
Refer a friend and earn credit
account
Where Account menu (top right) › Refer a friend.
Steps
- As a paying customer (Pro or Premium, with a confirmed email address) you get your own referral link. Copy and share it.
- Choose your formula: A = 20% for 12 months after the new customer's first payment, or B = 10% as long as that customer pays. At €10.00 per month (excluding VAT) A earns €2.00 per month, €24.00 in total; B earns €1.00 per month and keeps going. After 24 paid months B has earned as much as A. Your choice applies to new referrals; someone who already signed up keeps the formula of that moment.
- Who counts as the referrer? The first referral link someone opens applies for 30 days. If that person opens another link in that period, the first referrer stays. The referral is fixed when the new customer registers.
- What do you earn commission on? On what we receive: the paid invoice after discount and excluding VAT, before any payment fees. An invoice of €12.10 with 21% VAT is €10.00 excluding VAT; with formula A you earn €2.00.
- The amount earned is added monthly as credit on your subscription once it is at least €5; Stripe deducts it from your next invoice. Under €5 it stays until the threshold is reached. On the page you see your referrals (without personal data), what you earned and what has already been applied.
Result The new customer pays the same price; you earn credit. No commission on free periods, failed, refunded or disputed payments, or on your own accounts. If the customer cancels, the commission stops; if they take a subscription again within the term, it continues. The credit is not money: it is not transferable and not payable in cash.
Refunds On a refund the same share of the commission is reversed (with a full refund the whole commission). If the credit was already applied, the difference is offset against your next commissions before any new credit is given. You never get a higher invoice for it and we do not claim it back in money; if no new commissions follow, the amount stays open internally.
Undo Change your formula for later referrals; credit already earned stays. A referral already made cannot be withdrawn.
If something goes wrong
- I see no referral link: You need a paid subscription and a confirmed email address.
- My referral does not count: Your own accounts (also with a +label or Gmail dots in the address) and codes of non-paying accounts do not count. If the new customer had already opened another referral link, the first one counts. After 30 days an opened link lapses.
- My credit is not on the invoice yet: It is applied monthly, and only from €5.
- My credit is lower than expected: Check whether a payment was reversed or partly refunded: the commission on it is reversed pro rata.
Monthly analyses budget and your tickers
account
Where Dashboard, under Report (counter) and Plans (comparison).
Steps
- Every report or deep dive you start yourself counts as one analysis. Your plan sets how many per month: Free 5, Pro 60, Premium 300 (provisional numbers). The counter is under the buttons: Analyses this month: x of y.
- If an analysis fails, you get that unit back. The automatic reports and the weekly deep dive do not count.
- You need a confirmed email address for analyses, advice and questions to the AI. Click the link in the confirmation email.
- Alerts and advice belong to tickers in your active list. An alert on a ticker you archive waits until it is back in your list; nothing is deleted.
Result You see in advance what your plan includes and what you can still use. The budget resets at the start of every month (in your time zone).
Undo Wait until next month or choose a higher plan.
If something goes wrong
- Your monthly budget is used up: You get a notice with the number for your plan. It resets automatically at the start of next month.
- Please confirm your email address first: Use the link in the confirmation email; you can have it sent again from your account.
Return overview and export of your transactions
rendement
Where Dashboard, block Return overview.
Steps
- Open the block. Per ticker you see, in euro: bought, sold, realised result (sales against your weighted average cost), net dividend, unrealised result of open positions and the total. The total row is at the bottom.
- Click Return (CSV) for this overview as a file, or All transactions (CSV) for all your purchases, sales and dividends. The files open directly in Excel (semicolon, decimal comma).
- For a particular tax year the Annual overview remains available, in the currency of each ticker.
Result You see in one place what you have realised, received and not yet realised, and can export it for your own records. Everything is in euro at current exchange rates and excludes transaction costs (the app does not track them). Descriptive: not a tax calculation and not advice.
Undo Close the block; nothing is changed.
If something goes wrong
- A ticker has a warning sign: A price or exchange rate is missing for that ticker; the figures are then incomplete.
- The amounts differ from my broker: The app uses your entered transactions, a weighted average cost and current exchange rates, without costs or taxes.
Events and quarterly results afterwards
dashboard
Where Dashboard, block Events and the Earnings calendar.
Steps
- The block Events puts quarterly results, ex-dividend and payment dates and expiring alerts of your tickers in one agenda, by date.
- Filter on Results, Dividend or Alerts and choose 14, 30 or 90 days. Click a ticker to jump to that section.
- In the Earnings calendar, above the upcoming dates, a list Recently reported shows the reported earnings per share (EPS) next to the analyst estimate from before publication, with the difference in percent and the date.
Result You see what is coming and what was just reported in one place. The source is Yahoo Finance. It is descriptive: it says nothing about the price afterwards and is not advice.
Undo Choose another filter or period.
If something goes wrong
- A reported result is missing: Yahoo Finance does not have reported figures or an estimate for every stock; it then says there is no estimate.
- My ETF is not listed: Quarterly results only apply to stocks.
Alerts on daily move or RSI and quiet hours
alerts
Where Dashboard, Price alerts and Report (quiet hours).
Steps
- On Set alert choose the Type of alert: Price, Daily move in percent or RSI limit.
- For a daily move enter a percentage: you get a notice when the price has risen or fallen by at least that much today. For RSI enter a value between 1 and 99 (70 is often read as high and 30 as low).
- These alerts are checked on the server, even when your page is closed, and you get an email.
- Under Report set Quiet hours for alerts, for example 22:00 to 07:00. In that window (your time zone) nothing is checked or reported; if the condition still holds afterwards, the notice follows then.
Result You get a notice for a big daily move or a notable RSI without being disturbed in the middle of the night. The RSI is a descriptive indicator, not a buy or sell signal.
Undo Delete the alert or clear the quiet hours.
If something goes wrong
- My daily-move alert did not fire: The check runs in the scheduled task (about every quarter of an hour) and uses the price change of the current day; outside trading hours that does not change.
- I cannot change the type of an alert: Create a new alert for another type.
Performance over time and your own benchmark
rendement
Where Dashboard, block Performance over time and the card vs benchmark at the top.
Steps
- Open the block Performance over time (visible once you have transactions). The chart is only loaded then.
- Choose the period: 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, this year or all. Move the mouse or your finger over the chart for the values of a day.
- Result and benchmark shows your total result (realised + unrealised + net dividend received), your price result without dividend and what the same purchases and sales would be worth in the benchmark. Value and deposits shows the value of your positions next to your net deposits.
- On the card vs benchmark at the top choose another benchmark (MSCI World, S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Europe, MSCI World in euro or DAX). Your choice also applies to the chart and is remembered in your browser.
Result You see how your portfolio developed and how that compares with an index. Everything is in euro at the current exchange rate, so the price movement of foreign currencies is not in the series. It is descriptive and not investment advice.
Undo Choose another period or benchmark.
If something goes wrong
- A position is not counted: No price history or exchange rate was found for it; a warning appears at the bottom.
- The benchmark line is missing: The benchmark has no prices in that period, or the exchange rate was not available.
- The benchmark differs from the price on a financial site: The benchmark is a total return: reinvested dividends are included. Your price result without dividends is shown separately next to it.
Organise your list with favorites, labels and sorting
tickers
Where Dashboard, My tickers.
Steps
- Click the star on a ticker to mark it as a favorite.
- Open ⋯ (more actions) and choose Labels to add up to 5 own labels, separated by commas, for example dividend, long term.
- Buttons for your favorites and labels appear under the search field: click one to see only those tickers, click again to stop. The search field also searches your labels.
- Under Sort choose: own order, favorites first, name A-Z or daily change. Dragging only works in your own order.
Result You find what you need faster in a long list. Sorting and filtering are only a view: your own order and your data do not change. Your sorting and filter choice is remembered in your browser.
Undo Click the star or label again, or choose own order.
If something goes wrong
- I cannot drag: Dragging only works when Sort is set to own order.
- A label was changed: Commas, brackets and special characters are removed and duplicate labels merged.
Diversification and concentration of your portfolio
dashboard
Where Dashboard, below the tickers, block Diversification and concentration (visible once you have an open position).
Steps
- Open the block. The data is only fetched then.
- You see your largest positions and the split by type of investment, by currency and by sector, as a percentage of your portfolio.
- A yellow box notes that one position is 25% or more, one sector 50% or more, or your three largest positions together 60% or more. These are fixed reference values for a notice.
Result You see at a glance where your money is. The notice is descriptive: it does not say you should do anything and is not investment advice.
Undo Close the block.
If something goes wrong
- Sector is missing: Yahoo Finance gives no sector for ETFs, crypto and commodities; they are listed separately.
- A position is not counted: No current price was found for it; a warning appears at the bottom.
Closing report by email after market close
reports
Where Dashboard, under Report, tick Closing report by email.
Steps
- Tick Closing report by email (after market close). It is off by default.
- You get a separate email per region, shortly after the exchanges of that region have closed: Europe (around 18:00 Belgian time), US and Canada (around 22:30) and Asia. You only get an email for regions in which you have tickers, and each email only contains tickers from that region: no US tickers in the European report and vice versa.
- The email shows, per exchange, the biggest gainers and losers among your own tickers. For an exceptional move (5% or more) a short explanation follows, summarised from the news headlines of the past days.
- If there is no recent news, it says so. Commodities, crypto and currencies have no close and are not included.
Result After every trading day you see what moved and what the news may say about it. The explanation is an AI summary of headlines, not a judgement or advice. On an exchange holiday no email is sent.
Undo Remove the tick.
If something goes wrong
- I get no email: Check that your email address is verified and that your tickers are stocks or ETFs on an exchange.
- The explanation is missing: There was no news from the past days, or the summary could not be checked reliably; read the headlines yourself.
My points of attention in a deep dive
reports
Where At the top of a deep dive, under My points of attention.
Steps
- Tick what you want to focus on: Dividend, Valuation, Volatility, Debt and liquidity or Growth.
- Below your choice the matching data appears, with an explanation of what it shows and a list of the data used.
- Your choice is kept in your browser and applies to all deep dives on that device.
Result You see the data that belongs to your point of attention at the top. It remains a display choice: there is no buy or sell advice.
Undo Remove the tick.
If something goes wrong
- Nothing appears: You have not ticked anything yet, or your browser does not keep a choice (private window). Tick a point.
- Debt is missing: Yahoo Finance does not report it for every company, for example not for ETFs and commodities.
Reading short or detailed, labels and sources in a deep dive
reports
Where At the top of a deep dive, line View, and at every heading.
Steps
- Choose Short for only the core parts (at a glance, data quality, what has changed, risk, your position and news) or Detailed for everything. Your browser remembers your choice.
- Click a heading to open or close that part. When printing or saving as PDF everything is open.
- Read the label under every heading: Calculated, Company data, Third-party opinion, Third-party news, AI summary, Announced or estimated or Your data. That shows at once what is a fact, what is a third-party opinion and what an AI wrote.
- Click "View at the source" to check the data at Yahoo Finance (prices, key figures, financial statements, dividend, analysts, news). Every news headline also has its own link, source, date and age; above the headlines is the period they cover.
- Open Data quality at a glance: a status per part (Current, Delayed, Out of date, Estimated, Third-party opinion, Limited, Missing or Not applicable) and below it a list of inconsistencies, for example a price outside the 52-week range.
- What has changed? is grouped (price and direction, risk, company figures, analysts, news and calendar), with for every change what changed and by how much (from → to). If a figure is in only one of the two reports it says it cannot be compared.
Result A beginner keeps an overview with Short; whoever wants the details chooses Detailed. Everything stays descriptive: the labels and statuses say how reliable or current a figure is, not whether it is good or bad.
Undo Choose the other view or open the part again.
If something goes wrong
- My choice is not remembered: Your browser does not keep it in a private window or without storage; the page then simply works with everything open.
- A part is closed: You chose Short, or closed it: click the heading or choose Detailed.
Comparable investments in a deep dive
reports
Where In a deep dive, section Comparable investments.
Steps
- Stock: you see your own stock next to up to five comparable tickers, with return over 1 month, 3 months and 1 year, volatility, P/E and market cap. From 3 comparable tickers the median of those tickers is shown at the bottom.
- ETF: you see the ongoing costs (TER) and the largest holdings; the comparison with the index is under Price history.
- Crypto, commodity or currency: it explains why there is no comparison.
Result The comparable tickers come from Yahoo Finance: the same industry and region with a comparable market cap. They are not direct competitors by definition. Returns are price returns in each ticker's own currency, excluding dividends and without conversion. Nothing is said about good or bad: it is context for return, risk and valuation.
Undo Not applicable (read only).
If something goes wrong
- There is no median: There are fewer than 3 comparable tickers with figures; a "middle" of two numbers says nothing.
- The comparable tickers do not look like my stock: Yahoo groups by industry; companies in the same industry can have very different activities. Read the note below the table.
- A ticker is labelled "sector example": Its market cap is more than 10x larger or smaller than your stock. It is shown for illustration and does not count towards the median.
- What is "1 year"?: 1 month is 30, 3 months 91 and 1 year 365 calendar days, as price return without dividends. The same definition applies in Compare, the report and the deep-dive.
Your position and worked examples in a deep dive
reports
Where In a deep dive, section Your position and the portfolio (or Worked examples if you hold no position).
Steps
- With a position: you see the quantity, the value (in the ticker's currency and in euro), the weight in your portfolio (with your rank among your positions) and the share of your positions in the same category. If the ticker is among the largest holdings of an ETF you own, or an ETF overlaps with another ETF of yours, that is shown too.
- Below that read the worked examples: what a rise or fall of 10% would mean for your position and your portfolio, and what the largest decline of the past year would mean.
- Without a position: you only see the worked examples, for 1,000 in the ticker's currency.
Result The positions come from your own transactions and live prices; they are only used in your own report and never sent to an AI. Positions without a price are not counted; a note then says the weight is an estimate. The worked examples are fixed percentages: they say nothing about what will happen and contain no advice.
Undo Not applicable (read only).
If something goes wrong
- My position is missing: The position comes from your transactions: add a buy transaction, or check that the position is still open.
- The weight is not exact: A ticker without a live price is not counted in the total; the note below the table says so.
Which ticker does the weekly deep dive choose?
reports
Where Dashboard → Automatic reports (recurring), under "Weekly deep-dive by email (Monday)", line "Choose ticker".
Steps
- Choose Rotation (default): each week the ticker that has gone longest without a deep dive gets its turn; a ticker without any deep dive goes first. That way every ticker gets a turn, also the quiet ones.
- Or choose Fixed ticker and select a ticker from your own list. Your choice is only saved once you pick a ticker; until then it says "Choose a ticker to save".
- Or choose Most notable: the ticker with the biggest 5-trading-day move relative to its usual fluctuation, so a volatile ticker does not win every week just by its nature.
Result Every change is saved immediately (Saved). At the top of every deep dive and in the email you see why that ticker was chosen. The button "Generate deep-dive now" with Most notable ticker (automatic) always uses the rule Most notable, not your setting.
Undo Choose another mode; the fixed ticker is cleared as soon as you choose another mode.
If something goes wrong
- The fixed ticker is not saved: First pick a ticker in the list next to Fixed ticker; it must be in your active list.
- My fixed ticker is no longer in my list: The weekly run then falls back to Rotation.
The weekly deep-dive email
reports
Where In your mailbox, every Monday around the time of your automatic reports, when "Weekly deep-dive by email (Monday)" is on.
Steps
- Tick it and choose how the ticker is chosen (see "Which ticker does the weekly deep dive choose?").
- Open the email: at the top is the chosen ticker, below it why it was chosen and what has changed since the previous deep dive of the same ticker (price, direction, MA50/MA200, RSI, analysts, new headlines, new calendar items).
- Click View deep dive for the full report. At the bottom is a link to your dashboard to change the setting.
Result A short, factual email without advice. For the first deep dive of a ticker it says so; without changes it says "No notable changes since the previous deep dive". A manual deep dive is only emailed when you tick "Also by email"; the weekly deep dive does not count towards your daily quota.
Undo Untick "Weekly deep-dive by email".
If something goes wrong
- I do not receive the email: Your email address must be confirmed; also check your spam and that the box is ticked.
- The "What has changed" block is missing: It is always there; for the very first deep dive of a ticker it explains that instead of comparing.
Printing a deep dive or saving it as PDF
reports
Where At the top of the report, button "Save as PDF".
Steps
- Click Save as PDF (or use your browser's print).
- In the print window choose Save as PDF. If there is a Background graphics option you do not need to turn it on.
Result A portrait A4 document with dark text on white, repeated table headers, tables that do not break across pages, an expanded explanation and, on every page, a footer with ticker, version, date and source, plus page numbers ("3 / 8"). The file name ends with the ticker. Want the report as an image, like on screen (dark theme, all parts open)? Click Save as PNG next to Print / PDF; the image is made in your browser and gets the same file name with the ticker last. A very long report is made slightly smaller; if it does not work, use Print / PDF.
Undo Not applicable.
If something goes wrong
- The page is white with light text: Refresh the page and try again; since version 6.114 printing uses its own light colour set.
- A logo is missing on paper: The logo sits on a dark patch; if it is missing, no logo was found.
Insights & overviews
The earnings calendar
dashboard
Where Dashboard, block Earnings calendar.
Steps
- Open the block: you see the upcoming dates of quarterly results (next 120 days) for your active stocks, with the analysts' EPS estimate where available.
- If results are due within 7 days a notice appears in Attention needed (today, tomorrow or in n days).
Result A list with date, name and, if available, the EPS estimate. The source is Yahoo Finance; dates can shift and the EPS is an estimate by third parties, not our expectation.
Undo Not applicable (read only).
If something goes wrong
- A stock is not listed: Only stocks with a known results date appear; ETFs, crypto and commodities have none.
The annual overview
dashboard
Where Dashboard, block Annual overview (appears as soon as you have transactions).
Steps
- Choose the year.
- Read per ticker the gross dividend, the amount withheld, the net dividend, the realised result, and what you bought and sold.
- Click CSV to open the overview in a spreadsheet.
Result An overview of your own entered transactions, per ticker in its own currency (nothing is converted). The result uses the weighted average cost. It is an aid for your tax return, not tax advice.
Undo Not applicable (read only). Correct a figure by editing the transaction itself.
If something goes wrong
- "No transactions in this year": Choose another year or add your transactions.
- An amount is wrong: Check the entered transaction (date, quantity, price, dividend).
The weekly overview by email
dashboard
Where Dashboard → Automatic reports (recurring), box "Weekly overview by email (Monday)".
Steps
- Tick it; it is off by default.
- Every Monday a short email follows with your biggest weekly moves (3% or more), new 52-week extremes, MA50/MA200 crossings and what is coming in the next 7 days (results, ex-dividend dates).
- Products with leverage or a short position (names containing e.g. 2X, 3x, Leveraged, Inverse or UltraShort) get the label leveraged or short product after the name, because their price moves much more than the underlying. The system recognises this from the name; a product with a different name does not get the label.
- A new 52-week high or low is determined on the closing price.
Result Only facts from price data, no advice. Your email address must be confirmed.
Undo Untick it.
If something goes wrong
- I get nothing: Check your confirmed address, your spam and that the box is ticked.
Switching news on big price moves on or off
dashboard
Where Below your ticker list, box "Show news for big price moves (3% or more)".
Steps
- Tick it to show, under a ticker that moved at least 3% today, the most recent news item (at most 2 days old).
- Untick it to hide it again.
Result The item is called "Possibly related news" and is a third-party headline: it only shows a link in time, not a cause. It is off by default and your browser remembers your choice.
Undo Untick the box.
If something goes wrong
- There is no news with my ticker: There was no item from the last 2 days, or the ticker moved less than 3%.
Comparing ETF costs and overlap
compare
Where Compare in the top bar, block ETF costs and overlap below the chart.
Steps
- Put at least two ETFs in the comparison.
- Read per ETF the ongoing costs per year (according to Yahoo) and the largest holdings, and per pair the overlap percentage.
Result The overlap is a lower bound: only the largest holdings are known. The block only appears when there are ETFs in the comparison.
Undo Remove an ETF from the comparison.
If something goes wrong
- Costs or holdings are missing: Yahoo does not supply them for every fund; a dash appears then.
Logos next to your tickers
dashboard
Where In the ticker list, the calendars, the annual overview, the price alerts, the recent deep-dive reports, in the reports themselves (card header, tables and comparable tickers) and in the header and tab of a deep dive.
Steps
- Add a ticker: the logo is looked up online once and stored in our database; after that it is shown from our own database.
- Refresh the page if the logo is not there yet; it is fetched in the background.
Result Companies get their logo, ETFs the logo of the issuer (such as iShares or Vanguard), crypto and currencies the coin icon or the flag, and commodities their own drawn icon (gold, oil, grain, etc.). Dark logos sit on a white tile so they stay readable. If no logo was found you see the first letters of the symbol. Logos are trademarks of the parties concerned and serve only for recognition.
Undo Not applicable.
If something goes wrong
- My ticker only shows letters: No logo was found. Tell the administrator the symbol and the correct company domain; they can add it.
- The logo is out of date: An administrator can have the logos fetched again.
Comparing tickers
Putting the returns of tickers side by side
compare
Where Compare in the top bar.
Steps
- Type a name or symbol in "Add ticker" and choose a result; repeat up to 5 tickers. At least 2 are needed.
- Or click a group under Quick start (Tech giants, Carmakers/EV, European banks, Pharma, Energy, Crypto) to load it at once.
- Use the buttons (1M, 3M, …) to choose the period.
- Optionally enter an amount under "What if I had invested back then?" for the end value per ticker.
Result You see a chart and table with Return, Volatility and Max drawdown, plus a correlation matrix (close to +1 = move together, close to -1 = opposite). Returns are in each ticker's own currency, without exchange-rate conversion.
Undo Click Remove next to a ticker to take it out of the comparison; clear the amount to see only the return again.
If something goes wrong
- "Add at least 2 tickers": Add a second ticker or load a Quick start group.
- "No results": Try another search word or a symbol with exchange suffix.
- "already added": That ticker is already in the comparison.
Importing transactions (DeGiro)
Importing a DeGiro export
import
Where Button "Import transactions" above your ticker list.
Steps
- At DeGiro: export your account statement as CSV (menu names can differ per DeGiro version). Want to see the format first? Click Download sample file in the window (fictional data).
- Click Import transactions and choose the CSV file.
- Check the preview: new, duplicate (skipped) and invalid, with date, type, ticker, quantity and price/gross. Pick the right ticker where needed or click Skip.
- Click the confirm button to import.
Result You see "n transaction(s) imported across x new ticker(s). d transaction(s) skipped". Buy/sell transactions and dividends are recognised; costs and cash movements are ignored. An indicative tax overview of withheld dividend tax appears (not tax advice).
Undo Delete wrong transactions one by one in the ticker's Transactions window.
If something goes wrong
- "Choose a CSV file first": Select a .csv file before you continue.
- "There is nothing new to import": All rows already exist (same type, date and amounts) and are not added twice.
- Rows are invalid or not matched: They are skipped; look up the right symbol yourself or enter that transaction manually.
- No search results when matching: Type a symbol yourself, e.g. with exchange suffix (.AS, .BR).
- "The request is too large": An upload may be at most 8 MB and a broker CSV at most 5 MB. A normal export is much smaller; split a very large file by period.
Account & security
Registering and confirming your email address
account
Where Register on the start page; then the email in your inbox.
Steps
- Enter name, email address and password and confirm.
- Open the email and click the confirmation link (valid for 24 hours).
Result Your address is confirmed; alerts and automatic reports can now reach you by email.
Undo Not applicable.
If something goes wrong
- No email: Check your spam folder and your address.
- "Invalid or expired verification link": The link works for 24 hours. Click Resend confirmation email in the yellow bar at the top (max. 3 times per hour), or ask via the help chat.
Logging in with a magic link
account
Where Login page → Log in with magic link.
Steps
- Enter your email address and confirm.
- Open the email and click the link within 15 minutes.
Result You are logged in without a password. If 2FA is on, the app then asks for your code.
Undo Log out via the account menu → Log out.
If something goes wrong
- "This login link has expired" or "Invalid login link": Request a new link; each link works only once.
Forgot your password: resetting
account
Where Login page → Forgot password?

- Enter your email address.
- Click the reset link in the email (valid for 1 hour; max. 3 requests per hour).
- Choose a new password that meets the rules below.
Result You can log in with the new password.
Undo Request a reset again.
If something goes wrong
- Link expired or already used: Request a new one.
- No email: Check spam; wait a few minutes.
Changing your password
account
Where Account menu (your email address top right) → Security → block Change password.
Steps
- Enter your current password.
- Enter the new password twice.
- Click Change password.
Result What the app enforces: at least 8 characters, an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit. After the change you are logged out on other devices. Recommendation (not required): a long, unique phrase and a password manager.
Undo Change the password again, or reset it via "Forgot password".
If something goes wrong
- "Invalid password": The current password is wrong; after 5 failed attempts your account is locked for 30 minutes.
- "Passwords do not match": Type the new password twice, identically.
Why 2FA?
account
A password alone can be leaked, guessed or phished. With 2FA someone also needs your phone to log in. That protects your portfolio data, alerts and reports. It is recommended but not required.
Enabling 2FA
account
Where Account menu → Security.
Steps
- Install an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy).
- Scan the QR code on the page, or type the shown code.
- Enter your password and the 6-digit code from the app and click Enable 2FA.
- Save the 8 recovery codes that appear right away and click I've saved the codes.
Result At every login the app asks for the current code after your password (it changes every 30 seconds). The Security page says "2FA is enabled".
Undo See "Disabling 2FA".
If something goes wrong
- Code is rejected: Check the time on your phone (automatic time on) and try the next code.
- I closed the page without saving the codes: Disable 2FA and enable it again for new codes.
Using a recovery code
account
Where Login page, the verification-code step.
Steps
- Log in with your password.
- On the 2FA step enter one of your recovery codes (format
xxxxx-xxxxx) instead of the app code.
Result You are logged in. Each recovery code works only once. Keep them in a password manager or print them, not with your password.
Undo Not applicable.
If something goes wrong
- No access to your app and no codes: You cannot log in yourself any more; contact us via the help chat.
Disabling 2FA (or lost phone)
account
Where Account menu → Security.
Steps
- Enter your password and a code from the app and click Disable 2FA.
- No access to your app? Open "No access to your authenticator app? Use a recovery code", enter your password and a recovery code.
Result 2FA is off; you can enable it again on your new phone.
Undo Enable 2FA again.
Checking your account activity
account
Where Page
/auth/sessions (type it after the site address; there is no menu button).Steps
- Open the page; you see your latest security events: logins, logouts, password and 2FA changes, with time and IP address.
Result Unknown activity? Change your password right away (other devices are logged out) and enable 2FA.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
Downloading your data
account
Where Account menu → Security → bottom block My data.
Steps
- Click Download my data.
- Save the JSON file
mystockwatcher-gegevens-date.json.
Result You get a copy of your profile, tickers, transactions, price alerts, reports (data, not the files), conversations and security log. Password, 2FA secret and recovery codes are deliberately not included. The file contains personal data: store it safely. Limited to 5 downloads per hour.
Undo Not applicable (read-only).
If something goes wrong
- The download does not start: Check that you are logged in and try again later if you hit the limit.
Deleting your account
account
Where Account menu → Security → Delete account (click to expand).
Steps
- Download your data first if you want to keep it.
- Cancel a paid subscription first on the pricing page (see Plans & billing).
- Enter your password (and with 2FA a code or recovery code) and type DELETE to confirm.
- Click Delete my account (after a 14-day cooling-off period).
Result You get a confirmation email and are logged out. Your account is erased permanently after a 14-day cooling-off period: tickers, transactions, alerts, reports (including the files) and conversations disappear, the account is anonymised and your email address becomes free for a new registration. Until then you get no automatic reports or alert emails. Administrators cannot delete their own account.
Undo During the cooling-off period: log in and click Cancel deletion at the top (then set up your automatic reports again). After the final deletion nothing can be recovered.
If something goes wrong
- "Cancel your paid subscription first": Open the Pricing page → link to manage your subscription, cancel and try again.
- Wrong password or code: After 5 wrong attempts your account is locked for 30 minutes.
Switching language
account
Where NL / EN / FR top right in the top bar (and at the top of this guide).
Steps
- Click the language you want.
Result The choice is saved on your account and applies to dashboard, reports and emails.
Undo Click another language.
Plans & billing
Viewing and changing your plan
plans
Where Account menu → Pricing.
Steps
- See the cards Free (3 tickers), Pro (25 tickers) and Premium (100); your current plan is marked.
- Choose a paid plan and follow the payment steps; your plan is updated after payment.
Result The plan sets your ticker limit and the daily deep-dive quota (Free 1, Pro 3, Premium 10). Your existing tickers keep working when you reach the limit, but you cannot add new ones until you upgrade or hide tickers.
Undo See "Invoices, payment details and cancelling".
If something goes wrong
- Plan not updated after payment: Reload after a few minutes; if it stays wrong, contact us via the help chat.
Invoices, payment details and cancelling
plans
Where Pricing page, link "Manage subscription, invoices and payment details" (only visible with a paid subscription).
Steps

Frequently asked questions & troubleshooting
Why is the Analysts tab (almost) empty?
question
Yahoo Finance mainly provides rating changes for US stocks. For European stocks MyStockWatcher therefore shows the distribution of analyst ratings, the average rating score and the earnings estimate. These are third-party opinions, not advice.
Are the prices real-time?
question
No. Prices come from Yahoo Finance (crypto from Binance) and can be delayed; the update time is shown on the dashboard. Do not use MyStockWatcher as your only source for trading.
How many deep dives can I generate per day?
question
It depends on your plan: Free 1, Pro 3, Premium 10 per day. The weekly automatic deep dive does not count.
Why does a report sometimes take longer?
problem
Yahoo Finance limits the number of requests. MyStockWatcher therefore leaves a short pause between requests, across all processes. The first report of the day with many tickers and empty caches can take a few minutes (about 5 minutes for 50 tickers); a later report is faster because much data is already stored. The progress per phase is shown below the button.
A report does not appear or is empty
problem
Wait a few minutes, reload the page and look under Reports. If it is not there, generate again (max. 3 reports per hour). A tab without data shows source and date and is not an error. A report without AI analysis can be a temporary outage of the AI service; try again later.
An alert triggered while I was not looking
problem
That is correct: alerts are checked on the server, even when the dashboard is closed. Under Triggered alerts you see when and at which price; change the target to enable it again.
My import failed or shows nothing new
problem
Check that it is a CSV of your DeGiro account statement (download the sample file first for comparison). Existing transactions are not added twice; invalid rows are skipped and you can enter them manually.
I lost my 2FA device
problem
Log in with your password and use a recovery code (under "No access to your authenticator app?"). Then disable 2FA and enable it again on your new phone. Without a device and without codes: contact us via the help chat.
The verification or reset link no longer works
problem
Verification links are valid for 24 hours, reset links for 1 hour and magic links for 15 minutes. For a reset or magic link request a new one yourself; for a new verification link click Resend confirmation email in the yellow bar at the top.
Does MyStockWatcher give investment advice?
question
No. Everything is descriptive: prices, indicators and AI summaries of what happened. There are no buy or sell recommendations. Decisions and risks remain yours.
